Sustainability

Our sustainability work is rooted in craftsmanship, in respect for people and materials – and in the ambition to pass on a strong and responsible company to future generations.

For us, sustainability is fundamentally about responsibility, quality and long-term thinking.

Hestra is a fourth-generation family-owned company, with deep roots in the forests of Småland, Sweden. Our approach to sustainability has evolved over time and is closely interwoven with how we work, make decisions and develop products. For us, sustainability is not about quick fixes, but about consistently making considered choices – in design and materials, in production and partnerships, and in how we engage with people throughout the value chain.

The foundation of our sustainability effort is quality and longevity. Gloves that last longer need to be replaced less often, making durability one of the most effective ways to reduce our overall environmental impact. That is why we focus on timeless design, durable materials and solutions that allow products to be repaired and updated – such as replaceable liners. For Hestra, circularity is primarily about extending the life of what has already been made.

Another key pillar of our work is responsible production. By owning and operating our factories, we are able to take direct responsibility for working conditions, quality and environmental impact. This is combined with long-term partnerships with carefully selected suppliers, clear requirements for chemical management, responsible animal practices and working conditions, as well as follow-up through international standards and independent audits.

Sustainability for us is also about people. About safe and inclusive workplaces, skills development and pride in craftsmanship, and contributing positively to the communities where we operate. As a family business, we consider it a natural part of our responsibility to act fairly, transparently and with a long-term perspective – both as an employer and as a business partner.

In Good Hands

Our sustainability framework, In Good Hands, brings this work together and reflects how environmental, social and business ethics responsibilities permeate the entire Hestra organisation. It is a living approach built on continuous improvement, openness and respect for both people and nature. For us, sustainability is not a separate area – it is a natural part of how we make gloves.
